Just as great as the First

Intro

In this game Ratchet and Clank are back with more blow them up guns than ever. The great thing about this new game is that the more you blow stuff up the stronger Ratchet gets. Also you weapons can get upgrades and turn into whole new guns so the possibilities are endless. And this time Ratchet and Clank aren't playin around.

Story

In the first Ratchet and Clank, Ratchet saves Clank after his space ship crash lands and gives him a few repairs considering that he's a mechanic. After that Clank suggests that they go help bring a crime lord by the name of Drek to justice. So they set out on a whirlwind adventure to save the galaxy. Once they are done saving the galaxy no one really needs them anymore and the two heros seem to be forgotten. But about a year and a half down the road a new galaxy calls for two heros just like them and the two great compainions are off again to save the galaxy from a supervillain that has kidnapped an experiment. But even after they rescue the experiment there troubles are no where near over. Because Megacorp decides to distribute the little blue monster as pets to little children and the little fur balls begin to swarm the galaxy and it is up to Ratchet and Clank to figure out a way to stop them.

Game Play

As far as the gameplay goes the graphics in the game are just as good as expected and the movement throughout the game is nice and the game never freezes or lags or anything. It does take a few minutes to travel around the galaxy, from planet to planet in your spaceship. But the wait time is no more than expected. The graphics are crisp and clear and everything is real smooth. In the game the joysticks are used to move around your playing character from a third person point of view. If I had to compare this game to any other game it's kind of like spyro the dragon in that you have to get around and kill enemies and collect things in order to make progress through the game.

Sound

The sound in the game is no more or less than expected. Of course there are catchy little jingily tunes on some of the planets. But there really anything significant about the games sound.

Weapons

In this game, except for Clank, the only thing that you can count on are your weapons. And it's becoming easier and easier to do. There are tons of new guns in this game that are just waiting to be upgraded. After you use a gun and kill enemies with it the gun gains experience and after you get full experience the gun upgrades itself. The same thing goes for your health also.
Your starting guns include a lancer, the gravity bomb, and the chopper, and that's only the beginning. Also if you have a save file from the first Ratchet and Clank on your memory card it will give you some of your best old guns back for free.

Gadgets

In this games there are tons of new gadgets also to help you get out of all the sticky situations that you might and probably will encounter throughout the game. Your gadgets can do everything for you from swinging you over a pit, unlocking a passageway, and even pulling some of your opponents closer. Some of your starting gadgets include the swingshot(also in the first game), the electrolyzer, the tractor beam, and the dynamo.

Items

Throughout the game you may aquire some different items that could range from armor to an action figure. To help you sort out, and keep in line all of these items is a convenient items screen under the pause menu. This screen also tells you how many platinum bolts you have found and how many of them you have used. This is important because platinum bolts can be used to by other upgrades for your guns such as lock-on mods, acid mods, and shock mods.

Quick Select

In the game there is a very important menu that sometimes shows in the upper righthand corner of the screen that is called that Quick select menu. This is were all of the favorite guns that you have are placed. After they have been placed under this menu it makes it very quick and easy to access them throughout the game.

Bolts

If you have played the first game and money had been a problem for you it shouldn't be in this game. There are tons of opportunities to make money in this game. Such as the arena which is where you go to face challenges and also fight worthy opponents one on one. This is a very easy way to make money if you have the fighting skills. If you don't then you can always head over to the hover bike races. Which as fast paced races against eight computer opponents that give you a large sum of bolts if you can manage to come in first place.

Your Ship

My favorite thing about this game is that the player is given a ship that they have to fly and fight with in space against all of the bad guys. The other great things about having the ship is that once you collect enough raritanium you can modify your ship any way you want. You can do everything from torpedo launchers to a custom paint job to make your ship truly something of your own.

Summary

This is a great action game that doesn't take that long to beat and can be found at a very reasonable price. The reason I bought this game was because i was a fan of the first Ratchet and Clank and i was looking for a new game to occupy my time and trust me i found it. If I was asked to say anything bad about this game i don't think that i could and thats that bottom line.
