Epinions Eye Control, what's that?

by  dalesky,  avr. 11, 2002
Pros: Features, features, features; Oh, and Canon quality of course
Cons: flash has limited usability
The Bottom Line: Spending this much money should and does get you an advanced near-pro quality camera. Perhaps the best value out there.
Review: This camera is Canon's latest generation auto focus, advanced amateur offering. It has been available since late 2000. It sells for around $550, body only, or as a kit with the 28-90mm USM lens, for about $630. I bought mine at a local shop, one that I...

Epinions 1 year of experience with the Elan 7e

by  smoothdrrod,  oct. 15, 2002
Pros: THe only camera you might need from very beginners to semi-pro use
Cons: Craptacular 28-90mm lens typically bundled. 3rd party lenses not reccommended
The Bottom Line: Unless you have serious professional level demands (and in that case you aren't reading this) This camera is great for very beginners all the way up.
Review: I bought this camera under discount at Circuit City, where I used to work, new for $300 bundled with the USM 28-90mm lens. This lens blows and I whole-heartedly recommend you avoid this lens like the plague or an ex lover.

The auto focus for...

Epinions A perfect mid level SLR !!

by  andy318,  déc. 6, 2001
Pros: Eye control focus, Accurate metering -perfectly exposed pictures, Well placed controls
Cons: AF assist flash light very annoying, no spot metering
The Bottom Line: Feature packed, very good value for money - this is the camera to buy if you are starting out in photography or are an advanced amateur.
Review:
This is an excellent camera. If this your first time buying an SLR, go for this camera. It will help you grow into an advanced amateur. Good points of this camera -
1. Default metering type (35 zone evaluative) is very accurate for perfectly...

Epinions Light and rugged

by  wajlee,  mars 3, 2002
Pros: Rubber belt film drive makes for silent rewind, very light
Cons: Eye control doesn't work well, 9% in viewfinder blocked, bad night focus
The Bottom Line: The only difference between the Elan 7E and Elan 7 is the eye control and $50. They are both great cameras.
Review: This is a great camera, but is one of the least popular Canon EOS cameras because beginners normally start out with the Rebel 2000 and then graduate to one of the professional Canon SLRs. However, I would like to convince you that you should get an Elan...

Epinions Elan 7E You can't go wrong for $600

by  a6equj5,  févr. 24, 2002
Pros: Solid, Fast, Comfortable feel, Canon EOS compatability, reliable.
Cons: Eye controlled focus seems a bit "off" sometimes.
The Bottom Line: Not a "pro" camera, but it's missing a pro feature, $2000 price tag. If you want more than an entry level SLR, the Elan 7/7E is perfect for you.
Review: You may have read my other review of the Nikon Coolpix 995 digicam, which was less than stellar. I moved on to an Elan 7E and I couldn't be happier. This camera is called a mid-range camera, but has features of higher end cameras, such as eyepiece...

Epinions EXCELLENT!!!

by  puffinlady,  mars 31, 2002
Pros: Looks great, quiet, packed with features, won't grow out of it quickly
Cons: Need a bigger flash for low light pictures (what camera doesn't?)
The Bottom Line: A great camera for the beginner who wants to be a "little" serious about photography and great for the "already" serious photographer!! It appeals to all!
Review: This camera is awesome! This is my first SLR camera ever and I am really enjoying myself. I like this camera because I can grow into it and not worry about replacing it for a long time, if ever. There is enough here to keep me busy. I like that it...

Epinions Excellent camera

by  gosoon,  oct. 27, 2002
Pros: Excellent autofocus, E-TTL flash metering, great flexibility
Cons: Eye-controlled focus is useless
The Bottom Line: Excellent camera for the serious amateur, but save yourself a buck and buy the EOS Elan 7 rather than the 7E.
Review: I bought this camera when I was asked by a friend to act as the official photographer at his wedding. I had a Pentax MZ-10/ZX-10, and the autofocus on that camera was not up to the task (in low light would search around everywhere). In comparison the...

Epinions Good Camera

by  nicknitro71,  avr. 1, 2003
Pros: Good quality, price
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Great Camera. Look at Canon before going Nikon
Review: I bought this camera after en endless quest. I wanted to get a Nikon but the models with equal features were more expensive than Canon ones. Somebody suggested me a Canon. This was my first Canon product. My previous camera was a old Yashica FX-7. So I...

Epinions Nice, but did not meet expectations

by  bkshane,  août 11, 2002
Pros: Nice Feel. Easy to understand functions and buttons.
Cons: Auto focus performs poorly in low light.
The Bottom Line: I think I talked myself into the Canon before I completed my research. Low light AF hunting is a disappointment.
Review: Anticipating the birth of our second daughter we thought to upgrade our 15-year old fully manual SLR. My wife and I were both yearbook photographers in college, developed our own film, and like to think we are "prosumers". In reality we are probably...
